Freeform has ordered a fourth season of the hit original comedy series Young & Hungry, the first series renewal under the new Freeform (formerly known as ABC Family) banner. Production on the new season begins today.
Season to date, Young & Hungry is cable TV’s No. 1 scripted original series in its time period in target adult 18-34 and adult 18-49 demographics, according to Freeform and Nielsen. The series, which stars Emily Osment, Jonathan Sadowski, Aimee Carrero, Kym Whitley and Rex Lee, has been nominated for five Teen Choice Awards since its premiere in summer 2014.
“Young & Hungry is the first series we’ve renewed under the new Freeform banner. It remains a staple in our comedy diet. The show’s humor, quality and wonderful actors fit perfectly with our evolving brand,” said Karey Burke, EVP Programming & Development at Freeform.
Young & Hungry is produced by David Holden, Ashley Tisdale, Jessica Rhoades, Caryn Lucas, and Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum in association with CBS Television Studios. Gabi Moskowitz, of BrokeAssGourmet.com, is a San Francisco-based food blogger and contributed to the development of the project.
