Series creator/executive producer Lizzy Weiss just tweeted the news. “This season of #SwitchedatBirth will be our final one. We are ending the show after an amazing 103 episodes with pride, love, and gratitude.”
Switched At Birth launched on ABC Family in 2011 with the network’s then-highest premiere ratings to date. The fifth and final season, which will air on the rebranded Freeform, is yet to be scheduled.
Set in Kansas City, Switched At Birth revolves around two teenagers who were switched at birth and grew up in very different environments: one in an affluent suburb and the other in working-class areas. The series, which won a Peabody Award in 2013, features multiple deaf and hard-of-hearing series regulars, a first for a network series.
