As Starz’s parent continues to explore potential sales opportunities, the pay cable network is rebranding itself. Starting April 5, the Encore suite of channels will be renamed to Starz Encore, bringing all nets under the Starz brand umbrella.
Also getting a refresh is the Starz logo, with the flagship channel getting a new tagline, “Starz: Obsessable,” to reflect a focus on “fan-centric” programing, including original series Outlander, Ash Vs. Evil Dead, American Gods and movies Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, among the last titles from the network’s output deal with Disney that recently moved to Netflix.
With the network’s reliance on theatrical movies declining following the loss of the Disney deal, the Encore channels — now Starz Encore — which have 32.2 million subscribers, will add past seasons of Starz’s original series to their movie lineups.
