UPDATED with airdate: HBO will premiere a comedy special headlined by Quincy Jones, a young stand-up comic diagnosed with terminal cancer, at 10 PM Thursday, June 2. The exclusive presentation will tape April 4 at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles and debut this spring.

The 32-year-old Jones, who was diagnosed with cancer in July, had dreams of doing a stand-up special. He had moved from Seattle to Los Angeles and performed an estimated 1,000 stand-up sets a year to develop his skills. He continues to perform, despite ongoing chemotherapy.

A Kickstarter campaign launched by his friend and fellow comedian Nicole Blaine and her husband Mickey Blaine led to his March 15 appearance on Ellen, where he expressed his desire to do the comedy special. He returned for a second appearance today and got the good news. See the video above.
