It’s official. Sarah Wayne Callies (Colony) has closed a deal to reprise her role as Dr. Sara Tancredi opposite fellow returning stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell in Fox’s Prison Break event series, a nine-episode follow-up to the cult 2005 Fox action series. Production is set to begin next month in Vancouver. The casting won’t affect Callies’ series regular role on Colony, which was recently renewed for a second season on USA Network, since Prison Break is a limited event series only.

Deals are still being finalized for original cast members Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar and Amaury Nolasco to return and reprise their respective roles as T-Bag, C-Note and Fernando.

The original Prison Break, which ran for four seasons, centered on Michael (Miller)Fox logo who went to prison to try and save his convicted brother Lincoln (Purcell) by hatching an elaborate escape plan. In the drama’s new chapter, which picks up after Michael’s apparent death, Sara has moved on with her life, raising her and Michael’s child with her new husband (previously announced guest star Mark Feuerstein). When clues surface suggesting that Michael may be alive, Sara teams with Lincoln to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever.
