The CW’s Penn & Teller: Fool Us has pulled a new host out of its hat. The network announced today that How I Met Your Mother and Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Alyson Hannigan will be taking over as host for the competition reality show’s upcoming third season.
The series sees aspiring magicians performing his or her best trick as illusionists Penn & Teller attempt to figure out how it was pulled off. Magicians whose tricks fool the duo are given the chance to perform as the opening act for Penn & Teller’s popular show in Las Vegas. Penn & Teller: Fool Us is executive produced by Penn Jillette, Teller, Peter Adam Golden and Andrew Golder.
“Teller and I are big fans of Alyson,” said Jillette in a statement. “She is talented, smart and funny. We are so happy that she’s joining us as host this season. She has promised us that she loves magic and can’t get enough. She’d better not be bluffing because we’re going to give her more than enough.”
Said Hannigan: “My oldest daughter and I are huge fans of the show, so I am so excited to be hosting a program our whole family can watch together. Not to mention, Penn & Teller are genius entertainers, so any opportunity to work with them is amazing. And, of course, I’ve always wanted to play Vegas!”
The third season of Penn & Teller: Fool Us will premiere in the summer. Hannigan is repped by APA and McKuin, Frankel, Whitehead.
