MSNBC’s event will include GOP candidates John Kasich and Donald Trump and Dem candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders and begins at 7 PM ET. Missing from the list: GOP hopeful Ted Cruz. MSNBC said it has invited all candidates to participate.
Here’s how the candidate catnip is being parsed out:
At 7 PM, Chuck Todd moderates a town hall with Ohio governor Kasich in Queens, NY. At 8, Chris Matthews moderates a town hall with Trump in Green Bay, WI. At 9, Rachel Maddow sits down for another interview with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont senator Sanders for back-to-back extended interviews on a special edition of The Rachel Maddow Show.
Back in October, Maddow landed Clinton’s first interview after her 11-hour Benghazi Committee Hearing appearance – a hearing that landed MSNBC an 86% spike in primetime overall audience (1.4M viewers) and a 56% jump in the news demo (233K).
The night before MSNBC’s candidate-fest, CNN’s Anderson Cooper is moderating a town hall with Kasich, Trump and Cruz.
