Jordana Brewster, co-star of The Fast & the Furious movie franchise, is set as the female lead in the series adaptation of another hit action feature franchise, Lethal Weapon. Brewster will co-star in Fox’s hourlong pilot based on the hit buddy cop movies.
In the pilot, written by Matt Miller and directed by McG, when Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he is partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans), who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid stress in his life.
Brewster will play no-nonsense Dr. Maureen “Mo” Cahill, the LAPD’s hostage negotiator as well as its in-house therapist. She helps cops deal with their trauma and occasionally gets stuck with a real hard case like Riggs.
Brewster plays Mia in The Fast & the Furious movies. She previously played the female lead in another TV pilot based on an action movie, the 2007 Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Brewster recently co-starred on TNT’s Dallas and recurred on ABC’s Secrets & Lies. She’s repped by CAA, Principal Entertainment LA and attorney Marcy Morris.
