Offering an intimate glimpse at a pivotal moment in the life of one of world religion’s most significant figures, Last Days In The Desert sees Ewan McGregor as Jesus just before the start of his ministry, at the end of his 40 days of fasting and praying in the desert. As he leaves the wasteland, he struggles with the Devil, also played by McGregor, over the fate of an ordinary family in crisis, setting for himself a dramatic test with distinctly human conflicts. Get a glimpse of what that means from the official trailer — watch it now above.

Along with McGregor, Last Days In The Desert stars Tye Sheridan, Ciarán Hinds and Ayelet Zurer. It’s written and directed by Rodrigo García and produced by Bonnie Curtis, Julie Lynn, and Wicks Walker.

It hits theaters May 13 via Broad Green Pictures.
