Call me Grand Union, because the grosser Kate McKinnon gets, the more I’m buying. The funniest sketch on last night’s less than great SNL was “True Tales From The Sea,” in which storm-tossed sailors Taran Killam, Bobby Moynihan and Beck Bennett are rescued by two lovely mermaids (host Ariana Grande for Killam and Cecily Strong for Moynihan) and one not-so-lovely “blobfish” (McKinnon for Bennett) — each of whom is literally hot to trot as soon as they can trade their tails for gams via the requisite smooch.

SNLMcKinnon’s piscatory proboscis fills the screen as Bennett recoils — and recoils some more — while Moynihan yells, “Kiss your blobfish, man.” And once sated, McKinnon responds with a joyful, “Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba” — words you’ve surely never read before but which are in fact the Zulu opening chant from The Lion King.
