NBC is throwing its hat in the dance competition reality space with a series starring actress-dancer Jenna Dewan Tatum. The network has given a six-episode order to the untitled project, from Endemol Shine North America. Dewan Tatum is executive producing the show, which marks the first series for her production company Purple Cup Productions.
Dewan Tatum will also serve as a judge and mentor on the series, which is described as a fresh take on the dance competition genre. Dewan Tatum’s husband, fellow actor-dancer Channing Tatum, is also set to appear, according to the network. The two recently appeared together on the Spike’s hit Lip Sync Battle, setting ratings records.
Jenna Dewan Tatum and Channing Tatum are executive producing the NBC series alongside Peter Kiernan, Reid Carolin, and Dewan Tatum’s producing partner Meegan Kiernan for EndemolShine North America, Purple Cup and Free Association.
Dewan Tatum, who has had a recurring presence on Fox’s dance competition series So You Think You Can Dance, plays Lucy Lane on CBS’ Supergirl. She is repped by UTA and Management 360.
