Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie is joining Elisabeth Moss for Season 2 of the Jane Campion- and Gerald Lee-created drama Top of the Lake.

Deadline reported in January that Season 2 was set to start filming this month, with Moss reprising her role as Detective Robin Griffin. There were no details in today’s announcement as to what Christie’s character will be, only that it will be a “major role.” Top of the Lake Season 2 will air in the U.S. on SundanceTV and Hulu later this year and on BBC2 in the UK.

“I am so delighted to be working on Top of the Lake 2,” said Christie, who also played Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “Jane Campion has been a major creative influence throughout my life, and I could not feel more privileged to be working on the next installment of her unique and enthralling drama, alongside the brilliant Elisabeth Moss.”

Also joining the cast for Season 2 are David Dencik (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures) and Ewen Leslie (The Daughter).

Oscar winner Campion (The Piano) again will direct the miniseries, with new co-director Ariel Kleiman (Partisan). Campion and Lee also return as co-writers of the second season. Top of the Lake is being produced by Philippa Campbell and Libby Sharpe. Executive producers are Campion with See-Saw’s Emile Sherman, Iain Canning and Jamie Laurenson, alongside Lucy Richer for the BBC.

Top of the Lake Season 2 is produced by See-Saw Films for BBC Two in co-production with SundanceTV in the U.S., BBC First and Foxtel in Australia, and in association with Hulu in the U.S., ARTE in France and BBC Worldwide.
