Notting Hill director Roger Michell’s My Cousin Rachel has added Game Of ThronesIain Glen and acclaimed Brit stage actor Simon Russell Beale to its cast. As previously revealed exclusively by Deadline, they join Rachel Weisz, Sam Claflin and Holliday Grainger in the Fox Searchlight film, an adaptation of the classic Daphne Du Maurier novel.

The dark romance revolves around Philip, a young orphan, who believes his mysterious, beautiful cousin Rachel may have been responsible for the murder of his beloved guardian Ambrose, also a cousin of theirs. As Philip plots his revenge, he finds his feelings complicated as he falls under Rachel’s beguiling spell.

The book, originally published in 1951, was previously adapted into a film starring Olivia de Havilland and Richard Burton and directed by Henry Koster (Harvey). The film is produced by Kevin Loader with Anita Overland as co-producer.

“So many really great films have grown out of the works of Daphne Du Maurier: Don’t Look Now, The Birds, Rebecca… and here’s another of her classics which is at once detailed, dark, sexy, cinematic and full of surprises. I look forward to bringing this thrilling story to the screen with such a brilliant cast,” said Michell.

Filming starts April 4 and takes place on location in England and Italy. The film will be overseen by Searchlight EVP Production Matthew Greenfield, SVP Production Anikah McLaren and Director of Production & Acquisitions Katie Goodson-Thomas.
