The indie romantic comedy “inspired” by George Clooney has filled out its cast as filming begins. Tate Donovan, Kristen Johnston and Rosanna Arquette have joined the ensemble of For the Love of George led by Nadia Jordan, who also co-scripted with Hayley Nolan.
Director Maria Burton’s film follows the plight of a jilted British wife (Jordan) who comes to Los Angeles after discovering her husband cheating on her, with the fantasy of meeting her ultimate dream man: Clooney. Through a series of adventures and near-misses, she comes to learn that her destiny is in herself — not in any man, no matter how seemingly perfect. Rex Lee and Shaun Sipos also star.
“It is such an honor to produce a film about female empowerment that also recognizes many powerfully talented women in front of and behind the scenes of the entertainment industry,” Jordan said. “I believe that For the Love of George is both timeless in subject matter and timely and relevant to some of the robust gender discussions that are currently taking place in and about the entertainment business.”
The producers said a portion of the proceeds will benefit Not on Our Watch, the global human rights charity founded by Clooney, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, David Pressman and Jerry Weintraub.
