FilmRise has acquired the exclusive home media rights to eight films from Gravitas Ventures including Sundance docu Jim: The James Foley Story, Addicted to Fresno, 4th Man Out, Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong and Froning: The Fittest Man in History. The pics will be released on DVD and Blu-ray throughout the spring and summer. Other titles include: Advantageous, Anarchy Parlor and All Stars.
Jim: The James Foley Story explores the life and death of American photojournalist, James “Jim” Foley. Kidnapped by ISIS on Thanksgiving Day in 2012, Jim would go missing for two years before video footage of his execution would surface, introducing the world to the brutality of the ISIS regime. Directed by childhood friend, Brian Oakes, the documentary tells the story of Jim’s life through interviews with those closest to him.
Comedy Addicted to Fresno, stars Judy Greer and Natasha Lyonne as two co-dependent sisters, one a sex addict and the other a lonely lesbian, working as housekeepers at a Fresno hotel until they find themselves involved in an accidental crime, and go to great lengths to cover it up. Molly Shannon, Fred Armisen, Ron Livingston and Aubrey Plaza also star.
In 4th Man Out,” following a night of heavy drinking, Adam (Evan Todd) breaks the news to his three best heterosexual buds Chris (Parker Young,) Ortu (Jon Gabrus,) and Nick (Chord Overstreet) that he’s gay. Their undeniable attraction for one another is cut short following a surprising revelation. When they meet again a year later, they will decide whether they will make the next step, despite being connected to other people.
Froning: The Fittest Man in History follows CrossFit legend, Rich Froning Jr. as he enters the 2014 CrossFit Games. With three consecutive victories already under his belt, he has already reached a feat accomplished by no other athlete. The in-depth documentary also explores the man behind the legend, taking a peek into Froning as a son, husband and new father.
