EXCLUSIVE: Up-and-coming Brit actor Edward Holcroft is returning to Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman 2. Holcroft, whose character was thought to have died in the first film, established himself as a suitably dashing and dastardly foil to Taron Egerton’s lead. Matthew Vaughn’s stylish secret caper grossed over $415 million for Fox. Holcroft’s return to the fold suggests the writer-director has a few tricks up his sleeve for the second installment.
Holcroft is one of the UK’s most exciting young talents, with well-received turns in the award-winning Wolf Hall opposite homme-du-jour Mark Rylance and a small but crucial role in Working Title TV’s London Spy opposite Ben Whishaw. He has also just appeared on stage in Les Liaisons Dangereuses. He has Ritesh Batra’s The Sense of an Ending in the pipelines, appearing alongside Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling.
Kingsman 2 is casting up nicely with Halle Berry and Julianne Moore also believed to be in the mix. Vaughn and Jane Goldman wrote the script for the sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service. Holcroft is repped by Tavistock Wood and WME.
