Celebrity Name Game host Craig Ferguson will be blending game show hosting and acting as the star of Crunch Time, NBC’s hybrid game show/comedy. Also cast in the project, written by Betsy Thomas based on an original idea by veteran game show producer Phil Gurin (Weakest Link), are Kyle Howard (Royal Pains) and Kellee Stewart (The Soul Man), reuniting with Thomas after co-starring on her TBS comedy series My Boys.
Crunch Time, which intercuts between a real game show and the scripted workplace, centers on Emily, an up-and-coming producer trying to wrangle the volatile host, Toby (Ferguson).
Howard plays the game show’s head writer, Jake, a hipster playwright who does this gig for the money and his friendship with Emily. Stewart is Marcelle, Emily’s best friend, coworker, and confidante.
Thomas, David Janollari and Gurin executive produce for Universal TV.
Former Late Late Show host Ferguson also currently hosts History’s Join or Die. He is with WME. Stewart is repped by Domain, Robyn Bluestone Management and Meyer & Downs.
