TNT has given a pilot order to Claws, an hourlong dramedy set in a South Florida nail salon. The project hails from Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s Le Train Train in association with Warner Horizon Television and TNT Original Productions.
Written by Eliot Laurence (Welcome to Me), Claws is a dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness that follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous Florida manicurists in the traditionally male world of organized crime. We will soon find out there is a lot more going on at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon than silk wraps and pedicures.
Jones and McCormack executive produce, and Laurence co-executive produces the project, originally developed at HBO as half-hour. It stems from Le Train Train’s overall deal at Warner Bros TV, which ended last year. The duo are producing the NBC multi-camera comedy pilot Good Fortune through 20th Century Fox TV this season.
At TNT, Claws joins drama pilot Will, about the 20s of William Shakespeare, which also once was set up at HBO.
Claws expands Jones’ relationship with Turner. She plays the lead and serves as a producer on the TBS cop show parody Angie Tribeca.
