A decade after Broken Lizard’s beer-soaked Warner Bros feature comedy Beerfest came out, the title is being revisited as a digital series. The project is being developed by CW Seed, in conjunction with Blue Ribbon Content, Warner Bros’ shortform digital series production unit. The idea is to launch the series later in 2016, marking the film’s 10th anniversary.

Billy Gerber, who served as producer on the original movie, as well as The Dukes Of Hazzard movies, is spearheading the reboot as executive producer.

CWSeedDirected by Jay Chandrasekhar, the Beerfest movie centered on two brothers (Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske) who travel to Germany for Oktoberfest, only to stumble upon a secret, centuries-old competition described as a “Fight Club” with beer games. The movie, with a cast including Will Forte, Donald Sutherland and Cloris Leachman, grossed $20 million at the North American box office.
