EXCLUSIVE: The video game franchise Backyard Sports will be turned into a feature film by Cross Creek Pictures and Crystal City Entertainment. The feature version of the Day 6 Sports Group property will be produced by Cross Creek Pictures president Brian Oliver and Crystal City president Ari Daniel Pinchot.

Backyard Sports lets gamers play with professional athletes, who are morphed Backyard Sportsinto kids, to participate in games played in the yard. The game features stars from sports leagues including the NBA, NFL, Major League Baseball and NHL. Among the jocks in the video game are hoops stars from Steph Curry and Kevin Durant to Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard and Dwyane Wade and baseball stars that include David Wright, Giancarlo Stanton, David Ortiz, Robinson Cano and many others.

Crystal City most recently produced Infinitely Polar Bear, and Cross Creek most recently wrapped the Doug Liman-directed Tom Cruise starrer Mena and the Mel Gibson-directed Hacksaw Ridge starring Andrew Garfield. Crystal City’s Stuart Savitsky and Jonathan Rubenstein will be exec producers, and John Doherty will oversee for Cross Creek.
