EXCLUSIVE: Universal Pictures has acquired an untitled comedic dance movie pitch to be scripted by Amy Talkington. Brownstone Productions’ Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman will produce. Talkington most recently wrote Sabrina The Teenage Witch for Sony, Hot Fuss for Disney, and Ever After High for Mattel/Chernin Entertainment. Her draft of Valley Girl: The Musical is casting and gearing up for production at MGM. The studio is keeping details of the toe-tapping project quiet.
Brownstone’s producing Pitch Perfect 3, after the Banks-directed Pitch Perfect 2 had the all-time highest-grossing opening for a movie musical, and Red Queen, both at Universal. They are also developing a new Charlie’s Angels at Sony and HBO’s untitled Battle Of The Sexes, among other projects. Brownstone’s digital series, Resident Advisors, produced in collaboration with Paramount Digital Entertainment, premiered on Hulu in the spring. Universal senior veep Kristin Lowe will oversee the latest project.
Banks and Handelman are repped by UTA, Untitled and Ziffren; Talkington by UTA, The Arlook Group and Sloane, Offer.
