EXCLUSIVE: LA-based Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired North American rights to The Hollow, written and directed by Miles Doleac (The Historian). The cast includes James Callis (Bridget Jones), Christiane Seidel (Boardwalk Empire) Jeff Fahey (Lost), William Sadler (Freeheld), William Forsythe and David Warshofsky (Now You See Me). A festival run is planned this year, before rollout on the drama begins. The story chronicles an investigation into the mysterious murder of a senator’s daughter in Mississippi, led by a brilliant but jaded agent battling demons both past and present. Doleac tells Deadline, “It’s great to be in the hands of a distributor who truly gets and cares about our film on its own terms, somebody who is going to fight to make sure it finds the widest audience possible.” Historia Films produced.
New York-based FilmBuff has boarded worldwide rights on Malik Bader’s Detroit-set crime thriller Cash Only and set a set a spring theatrical and VOD day-and-date domestic release. The film was produced by Ele Bardha of Bardha Productions and Nickola Shreli of Nickname Projects. Shreli (Abduction), who also wrote the screenplay, plays Elvis Martini, a struggling landlord days away from losing his building and unable to pay back thousands borrowed from the Albanian underworld. The only bright light in Elvis’ dark world is his 9-year-old daughter. When he commits a crime of opportunity and his daughter is abducted, he must confront his inner demons to save her. Cash Only world premiered at the 2015 Fantasia Film Festival and won the Best Director prize.
