Whenever a mother utters those words about her young son, as heard here in The Darkness trailer, you know there’s reason to be concerned. But add in the fact that Michael is dripping blood from his mouth, leaving dirty handprints everywhere and setting fires around the house, and, as a parent, you should just be damn scared.

Such is life with the Taylors in The Darkness, summer’s first horror film from Blumhouse’s in-house microbudget label BH Tilt in coordination with High Top Releasing. Previously known as 6 Miranda Driveit follows a family who’ve just returned from a Grand Canyon vacation. Only thing is, they brought back something worse than bed bugs to suburbia: supernatural spirits who once frightened the Native Americans.

Directed by Wolf Creek‘s Greg McLean, the horror pic stars Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry, Matt Walsh and Jennifer Morrison. McLean, Shayne Armstrong and S.P. Krause wrote the film. Producers are Jason Blum, Bianca Martino and Matt Kaplan. The Darkness opens Friday, May 13. Meanwhile, above is an exclusive photo of Bacon and family trying to keep it together as their house gets rocked by spirits.
