EXCLUSIVE: Body Team 12, nominated for the Best Documentary Short Oscar, follows body collectors at the height of the Ebola outbreak. This team has one of the most dangerous and gruesome jobs in the world. The story is told on the ground in Monrovia, Liberia through the eyes of the only female member of the team, Garmai Sumo. A mother and a caretaker, she possesses a certain type of maternal heroism. Through Garmai we see the heartbreaking, lifesaving work of removing bodies from loved ones in order to halt the transmission of the disease.
Director-producer David Darg shot the film himself at great personal risk in an effort to humanize the workers he felt were saving the world. He edited the film while in quarantine upon returning to the U.S. Bryn Mooser also produced.
