Amblin Partners announced today that it has extended CEO Michael Wright’s contract in a multi-year deal. Terms were not disclosed. He had been CEO of DreamWorks Studios and he was a key figure in establishing Amblin Partners, which became official in December as a joint venture teaming Steven Spielberg, Participant Media, Reliance Entertainment and eOne. Wright was also a key cog in sealing the new company’s distribution deal with Universal.

The onetime head of programming at TNT, TBS and TCM will report to Spielberg.

“Michael is both an inspiring leader and a creative storyteller,” Spielberg said in a release announcing the deal. “Our partners at Participant Media, Reliance Entertainment, and Entertainment One, as well as our team here at Amblin Partners, join me in recognizing what Michael has already accomplished for us. We know his passion for our vision has the wind at our back and we look forward to the years ahead.”
