Matt Lanter has been cast as the male lead in Time, NBC’s action adventure drama pilot from Supernatural creator Eric Kripke and The Shield creator Shawn Ryan.

The project, from Sony Pictures TV and studio-based Davis Entertainment, is described as “Back to the Future meets Mission: ImpoNBC logo 2016ssible.” It is a high-octane drama following an unlikely trio who travel through time to battle a master criminal intent on altering the fabric of human history with potentially catastrophic results.

Lanter and Abigail Spencer, who was  cast as the female lead, with play two of the time-travelers at the center of the show.

Ryan and Kripke co-wrote the script and executive produce with Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox and MiddKid Prods.’ Marney Hochman.

Lanter, who got his break on 90210, recurred on ABC’s The Astronaut Wives Club and will next be seen in the feature USS Indianapolis. He is repped by UTA, manager Faras Rabadi and attorney Mitch Smelkinson.
