Showtime is eying its first pilot pickup of 2016, giving a cast-contingent order to Mating (working title), an anthology half-hour comedy project from Stu Zicherman (The Americans) and Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood).
Written/executive produced by Six Degrees co-creator Zicherman, Mating explores modern dating and relationships, with each season chronicling a different protagonist’s journey. The first season-long arc will center on a recently divorced guy who tries to evolve and connect one date at a time. Search is currently underway for the lead, whose casting the pilot order is contingent on.
Mating, which was originally set up at Showtime in summer 2014, is a co-production between Universal TV and Showtime. True Jack Prods’ Katims and Michelle Lee are executive producing alongside Zicherman.
CAA-repped True Jack also has new Hulu drama series The Path, starring Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan, which debuts March 30, and CBS drama pilot Bunker Hill, toplined by Dermot Mulroney and Augustus Prew. Zicherman, who also wrote/executive produced the Amazon pilot Casanova, is repped by WME and Mosaic.
