EXCLUSIVE: John Magaro and House Of Cards alum Rachel Brosnahan have been set to join the cast of Woody Allen’s upcoming series set up at Amazon. They will play the young leads of the six-episode half-hour series alongside the previously cast Allen, Elaine May and of course Miley Cyrus. This is the latest move in the growing relationship between Allen and Amazon. Last week, the streaming giant acquired North American rights to Allen’s next film, a period romantic comedy. Sources said the deal for domestic rights was just under the Sundance-record $17.5 million Fox Searchlight paid for worldwide rights to Nate Parker’s A Birth Of A Nation last month in Park City. Allen had released his last seven movies through Sony Pictures Classics, which will not be involved in this one. Under terms of the deal, Amazon will open the film this summer with a traditional, nationwide theatrical release, followed by an exclusive Prime Video window.

Meanwhile, we’re told Magaro and Brosnahan are set for Allen’s TV series. As per usual with the writer-director’s fare, little is known about the project other than that it takes place in the 1960s, and shooting begins next month.

Magaro most recently was in the Oscar Best Picture nominee The Big Short and Disney’s The Finest Hours (as was Brosnahan) as well as The Weinstein Company’s Carol. He’s next up opposite Brad Pitt in Netflix’s War Machine. He’s repped by Paradigm, Authentic Literary and Talent Management, and Patti Felker.

Brosnahan was a regular on WGN America’s Manhattan in addition to playing the key role of Rachel Posner on Netflix’s House Of Cards and co-starring in the CBS mini The Dovekeepers. On the film side, her credits include Finest Hours, Joachim Trier’s Louder Than Bombs and Beautiful Creatures. She’s repped by Innovative Artists,  Carole Dibo Talent Management and Schreck Rose Dapello & Adams.
