Undoubtedly you’ve seen the memo and know the drill of the Hollywood road closures and heavy security that will go into effect this weekend with the 88th Academy Awards on Sunday but get ready because things, to quote past Oscar winner Eminem, are about to get heavy. That’s right, with Vice-President Joe Biden hitting the stage at the Dolby Theater on the 28th to introduce Lady Gaga’s performance – L.A. is about to be hit big with another BidenJam.

Oscars 3According to the list just released by the LAPD (see below), the Westside will see the bulk of the closures and congestion with the Veep and Dr. Jill Biden arriving in town on Saturday evening via Air Force 2. As L.A. saw back in November the last time the VP was in town and as used-to-it D.C. residents learned again when the Bidens dropped in on an advance screening of Tina Fey’s Whiskey Tango Foxtrot earlier this week, everything else comes to a halt when the full force of Executive Branch protection is implemented. With Biden in town for 2-nights, expect your Monday morning AKA Oscar hangover commute to be tied up too. The Veep and Dr. Biden aren’t leaving town until the late morning on the 29th.

While the Secret Service likes to keep President Barack Obama and the Vice-President’s exact movement and routes hush hush when either of the duo are in town, here are the road closures and time the LAPD have announced. Two things, one, its way more intrusive than when Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was in town on the 22nd for fundraisers. Secondly, you really might not want to linger too long in Santa Monica after the Independent Spirit Awards are done tomorrow if you don’t want to be stuck in traffic for the rest of the night. As for Oscar night – well, it’s gonna be a total lockdown around Hollywood and Highland as well as a lot of Beverly Hills and West L.A – so plan accordingly.
