Jimmy Smits is set to co-star opposite Corey Hawkins and Miranda Otto in 24: Legacy, Fox’s drama pilot, which reboots the 24 franchise with brand new characters and cast.

Written by 24 veterans Manny Coto and Evan Katz and directed by Stephen Hopkins (who helmed the original 24 pilot), 24: Legacy chronicles military hero Eric Carter’s (Hawkins) return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Emmy winner Smits will play John Donovan, a powerful U.S. Senator with higher political aspirations. In addition to Hawkins and Otto, Smits also joins Teddy Sears and Anna Diop.

24: Legacy is executive produced by Howard Gordon, Coto, Katz and Brian Grazer through 20th Century Fox TV, Imagine TV and Gordon’s Teakwood Lane Productions.

LA Law, NYPD Blue and The West Wing alum Smits co-starred on the final three seasons of FX’s Sons of Anarchy, and is currently completing a one-season stint on Baz Luhrman’s Netflix drama The Get Down. He is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Tom Hoberman.
