IFC Films has acquired U.S. rights to The Land, a thriller from first-time feature writer-director Steven Caple Jr that premiered in the NEXT Section at Sundance. The pic will get a theatrical release in the second half of 2016.

But things change when they find a bag of pills and get tangled up with Momma (Linda Emond), the cold, calculating drug queenpin who runs the toughest gang in town. Moises Arias, Rafi Gavron, Ezri Walker, Kim Coates, Natalie Martinez, Erykah Badu, Michael Kenneth Williams, Melvin Gregg and Colson “MAchine Gun Kelly” Baker also star.

The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP Acquisitions at Sundance Selects/IFC Films, with WME Independent on behalf of the filmmakers.
