Marvel Studios today confirmed today that Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Pom Klementieff have joined the cast of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, which has started principal photography in Atlanta for a May 2017 release.

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage. The film is produced by Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Nik Korda and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

James Gunn returns to write and direct after leading the first film in the franchise to a global box office cume over $770 million. Also back on-board is the Star-Lord himself Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan and Sean Gunn.

James Gunn announced the Kurt Russell news on his own Facebook page, writing, “My favorite movie as a small child was The Strongest Man in the World, so I’m glad to announce that, yes, Kurt Russell has joined our cast and, yes, he is more awesome a dude than I ever could have imagined.”

Russell was most recently seen in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. He is repped by CAA. Elizabeth Debicki was in Guy Ritchie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and also stars in the Ink Factory’s eagerly-anticipated John Le Carre adaptation The Night Manager opposite Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston. She is repped by CAA and United Management.
