EXCLUSIVE: Steve Richards’ Endurance Media has set Steve Barnett to be President of Production, as the company has picked up three scripts from Black List writers Tyler Marceca, Michael Diliberti and Daniel Kunka. Barnett joins James Tomlinson, who is VP Production. Endurance Media, which has a strategic alliance with Entertainment One Films, was founded last year by Richards, a longtime Silver Pictures executive. Here are the scripts:
- Malpractice, written by Tyler Marceca (The Disciple Program), follows a disgraced surgeon operating a black market clinic in Manila, who is called into action after he is enlisted by terrorists to assist in a plot to set off a bomb at a political convention filled with international dignitaries. Richards will produce through Endurance, and Barnett will executive produce.
- Miami, PI, written and to be directed by Diliberti (Little White Corvette), focuses on a young PI with a checkered past, who teams up with an ex-model/hot mess to solve the murder of a young girl in Miami. As they navigate the sleazy underbelly of Miami and follow leads pertaining to the murder, they find themselves in way over their heads as they begin to uncover clues linking a high-powered figure to a far-reaching conspiracy. Richards will produce along with Scott Bernstein and Brian Levy. Barnett will be executive producer.
- Battle of New Orleans, written by Kunka (Yellowstone Falls), is one of the greatest untold stories in American history featuring General and future President, Andrew Jackson, who reluctantly partners with world-renowned pirate Jean Lafitte to lead a ragtag team of soldiers against the indomitable British Army in the climactic battle of the War of 1812. Richards will produce with Adam Kolbrenner. Barnett will executive produce.
Barnett has spent 20 years as an exec and producer at haunts that include WWE, Dimension Films and Atmosphere Entertainment, where he was a producer on the Zack Snyder-directed 300. Barnett is currently in post-production on the faith-based pic Priceless and recently set up The Fixer at Fox 2000 with Jennifer Aniston starring and Melisa Wallack (Dallas Buyers Club) adapting, and the four-quadrant action/adventure film Zodiac, written by Jayson Rothwell, with Chinese media conglomerate LeTv.
“I’ve known Steve Barnett for close to 20 years, and I am very excited to be growing the company with him,” said Richards, Endurance Media founder and CEO. “He has a great eye for commercially driven material and has fantastic relationships throughout the industry.” Before founding Endurance, Richards worked on such Silver Pictures films as Non-Stop, Project X, Unknown and RocknRolla.
