EXCLUSIVE: Emily Ratajkowski has boarded the cast of Anthony Byrne’s thriller In Darkness. The film stars Game Of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer, along with Deadpool‘s Ed Skrein and Stacy Martin (Nymphomanic Vol. 1). Dormer and Byrne co-wrote the script.
The film is a psychological revenge thriller about blind musician Sophia’s (Dormer) who gets pulled into London’s dark underbelly after she hears a murder committed in the apartment above her. Ratajkowski plays Veronique, the fractured daughter of the antagonist Radic, and is pivotal to Sophia’s quest for revenge.
Ratajkowski exploded on to the scene following her attention-grabbing appearance in Robin Thicke’s risque music video for Blurred Lines. Since then, she and her reps have navigated her career with roles in David Fincher’s Gone Girl, the Entourage movie and We Are Your Friends opposite Zac Efron. She will next be seen as the lead in the 1980s-set indie pic Cruise, about a young Italian-American (Spencer Boldman) from the wrong side of the tracks who falls for a Jewish girl (Ratajkowski) from Long Island. Alex Garcia’s ambitious AG Studios is financing.
Ratajkowski is repped by UTA, Untitled Entertainment and Bloom Hergott. She also has a formidable social media presence with almost 5 million followers on Instagram. She recently made headlines with an impassioned essay for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter about body shaming and female sexuality.
UK-based management and production company 42’s Ben Pugh and Josh Varney are set to produce In Darkness alongside Byrne, with Rory Aitken & Josh Horsfield exec producing. Production is scheduled to begin in the spring.
UTA is handling U.S. sales. XYZ is selling international rights.
