Former Weeds co-stars Elizabeth Perkins and Kevin Nealon are reuniting on another comedy project, NBC’s untitled royal family comedy pilot (aka Dumb Prince) written by Charlie Grandy and executive produced and directed by Amy Poehler.
The comedy is set in the country of Modaria, known for the manufacture of mopeds and tiny cars, where the Faber family has ruled for generations. Prince Karl, fka The Dumb Prince (Nico Evers-Swindell) returns home from a year’s exile in America after having passed out at the coronation of his seemingly hapless father, King Adrian (Nealon). Perkins will play his wife, Queen Tuesday.
Also previously cast in the pilot are Tim Baltz as Prince Marco, the King and Queen’s second son, and Jessie Ennis as Princess Jana, the youngest child of the royal family.
Poehler, Dave Becky, and Brooke Posch executive produce with Grandy.
Perkins, who earned two Emmy nominations for her role on Weeds, will next be seen in the female Ghostbusters movie. Neelon was recently seen in Ghost Squad. Both are repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
