Sky Atlantic and Participant Media’s Pivot picked up Season Two of arctic thriller Fortitude last April, ahead of the drama’s first season finale. With principal photography now underway in London, a host of new cast members have been added. They include Dennis Quaid, Parminder Nagra (The Blacklist), Michelle Fairley (Resurrection, Game Of Thrones), Robert Sheehan (Misfits), and Ken Stott (The Missing).
The drama, created by Simon Donald, is set in the eponymous tight-knit community where things begin to unravel when a mysterious death threatens the town. A fresh murder will rock the locals in Season 2, plunging Fortitude into turmoil while nature grows even more unpredictable, deadly and dangerous.
Returning cast members include Sofie Gråbøl, Richard Dormer, Luke Treadaway, Darren Boyd, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Mia Jexen, Alexandra Moen, Verónica Echegui, Sienna Guillory and Ramon Tikaram.
The creative team is back with Donald writing the new story. Fifty Fathoms and Tiger Aspect will produce with Sky Atlantic. Exec producers for Fifty Fathoms/Tiger Aspect are Patrick Spence, Donald, Faye Dorn and Frith Tiplady. For Sky Atlantic, EPs are Anne Mensah and Lizzie Gray. For Pivot, Jeff Skoll and Chris Loveall exec produce.
The first season is Sky Atlantic’s biggest drama commission to date, with the premiere episode seen more than 3.2M times. Broadcasters in over 170 territories also acquired the series.
As with the first, the second season will be simulcast across Sky’s European territories and on Pivot in the U.S. A late 2016 airdate is eyed.
