“Repairing the human heart is like repairing an automobile: You have to take everything apart, just examine everything — then you can put it all back together.”
Ahead of its U.S. premiere at SXSW next month comes the new trailer for Fox Searchlight’s Demolition. Southpaw star Jake Gyllenhaal plays a high-end investment banker trying to rebuild his life after he survives a car crash that killed his wife. A complaint letter to a vending machine company — written 10 minutes after the wife’s death — leads to a series of emotional and increasingly personal missives that catch the eye of a customer service rep (Naomi Watts) with issues of her own. As he tries to move on, the two bond and, with the help of her unusual son (Judah Lewis), the exec starts to rebuild. Chris Cooper co-stars as Davis’ pressuring father-in-law.
Directed by Jean-Marc Vallee from Bryan Sipe’s script, Demolition had its world premiere as the opening-night film at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. It hits theaters April 8. Check out the trailer, dig on Heart’s “Crazy on You” riff and tell us what you think.
