Three episodes in, USA Network’s new sci-fi drama series Colony, from Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal, has been renewed for a second season.

The project, from Legendary Television and Universal Cable Prods. stars Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies and centers on one family’s struggle to survive and bring liberty back to the people of an occupied Los Angeles.

“Carlton and Ryan have successfully delivered a story that tests the strengths and weaknesses of a society in duress, and the bonds of a family divided,” said Chris McCumber, President of USA Network. “Colony’s performance across all platforms has been impressive, and we can’t wait to see where the story takes us.”

Colony’s live ratings performance has been so-so, but the futuristic drama logged a Week 2 demo uptick in Live+3 and has been posting big time-shifted viewing percentage increases. USA only provides a combined average L3 audience (3.4 million viewers ) for two same-night telecasts of Colony‘s original episodes. (Mr. Robot had been reaching similar L3 viewership levels for the single premiere telecast by its second-third week). Additionally, USA notes that more than half a million people sampled Colony’s pilot during a two-week pre-linear release on select digital platforms including, Hulu, the USA Network App and VOD.

Colony, whose fourth episode airs tonight, co-stars Peter Jacobson and Amanda Righetti.
