EXCLUSIVE: John Crowley’s Brooklyn, adapted by Nick Hornby from Colm Tóibín’s novel, is perhaps this season’s most delicate Oscar player. A touching, human story about Eilis (Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish immigrant to New York in the 1950s, the film’s central theme is homesickness and the difficulty with which our lives move on.

Ronan’s performance has been gaining traction since the movie premiered a year ago at Sundance, with gold from the British Independent Film Awards, and critics groups in Boston, Detroit and London. In an exclusive new video, the focus is on supporting star Julie Walters, who is BAFTA-nominated for the film, as she and Crowley sit down to discuss their attraction to the project and the touching truth behind the many real-life stories that inspired Eilis’.

The pic is up for three Oscars including for Best Picture, Best Actress for Ronan and Hornby’s Adapted Screenplay.
