EXCLUSIVE: It’s been quite the Sundance Film Festival for Michael Barbieri. First, the 14-year old had his feature debut as one of the co-leads in fest award winner Ira Sachs’ Little Men, then he signed up with 3 Arts Entertainment on the weekend, and then he had a very well-received premiere at a packed Eccles Theatre last night. Now the actor has been brought into the WME fold, I’ve learned.
The agency, which is handling sales of Little Men, will rep Barbieri in all mediums. The actor’s co-star Theo Taplitz is represented by Innovative Artists. Little Men is also Taplitz’s feature debut.
Little Men focuses on Barbieri and Taplitz as two best friend boys who get dragged in their parents’ battle over a NYC lease. Taplitz is the sensitive Jake to Barbieri’s more aggressive Tony. Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Ehle portray Jake’s parents while Paulina Garcia plays Tony’s single Mom.
With another Sundance screening in progress this morning, Little Men will be shown four more times at the fest this year.
