Writer and author Michael Ian Black will command the dais as host of the New York portion of the 68th annual Writers Guild Awards at the Edison Ballroom on February 13. “As the screenwriter of the straight-to-DVD 2006 release Wedding Daze, I can think of no better person to host the 2016 Writers Guild Awards than myself,” Black quipped in a statement.
The WGA East also said today that presenters at the NYC event will include Tituss Burgess, Sam Esmail, Tony Goldwyn, Armando Iannucci, Brian Koppelman, David Levien, Margo Martindale, Michael McKean, Annette O’Toole, Emmy Rossum, John Slattery and Alan Zweibel.
At the Manhattan gathering, Sen. Al Franken will be presented with the Evelyn F. Burkey Award for bringing honor and dignity to writers, and Richard LaGravenese will be honored with the Ian McClellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement.
The West Coast ceremony will take place concurrently at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. A host for that event has not been announced.
