Martha Raddatz has been named co-anchor of ABC News’ This Week With George Stephanopoulos. Raddatz has co-anchored the Sunday Beltway show, and done reporting, and will continue to do so, ABC News President James Goldston said this morning. Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl will be the primary substitute anchor on This Week.
This Week is ranked No. 1 in the news demo, adults 25-54, at this point of the season for the first time in 22 years, but today’s announcement comes the same morning ratings came out showing the program failed to finish first in the demo for a third consecutive week. NBC’s Sunday show, Meet the Press, won last Sunday and CBS’s Face the Nation the previous two.
In today’s announcement, Goldston said, “Martha has proved equally fearless at taking on presidential candidates, including Senator Sanders, Dr. Ben Carson, and Donald Trump and memorably moderating several debates.”
