Trevor Donovan has signed on to Crystal Sky’s contemporary western drama JL Ranch, joining Teri Polo and John Voight in the film about veteran rancher and former sheriff John Landsburg (Voight), who is forced to face the federal bureaucracy when an old enemy seeking revenge over a decades-old grudge falsifies documents and alleges Landsburg doesn’t actually own his beloved family ranch. Donovan plays Brady, Landsburg’s prodigal son who has turned his back on the family business in order to work as a bartender – while secretly having an affair with a waitress. The events of the film yest his integrity as a man — and a Landsburgh.
Polo is playing Landsburg’s daughter, Rebecca. Steven Bauer, Lee Purcell, Kevin Lingle, Shane Woodson, and Cory Scott Allen also appear. Directed by Robert Charles Carner and written by Harley Peyton, it’s produced by Stephen Paul’s Crystal Sky banner. Donovan recently appeared in Texas Rising and is repped by APA and Michael Yanni Management.
Keith Robinson has been cast in the in-production Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me, which tells the story of the seminal rapper’s rise to fame as one of the most important musical figures of his era, his bitter conflict with friend-turned-rival The Notorious B.I.G., and his still-unsolved murder. Robinson will portray TNT Records founder Atron Gregory, who first pushed Tupac into the limelight by getting him a gig as a dancer with the Oakland hip hop group Digital Underground and later helped establish him as a solo artist.
The film stars Demetrius Shipp, Jr. in the title role, with The Walking Dead‘s Danai Gurira as Tupac’s mother, and Jamal Woolard as Biggie, a role Woolard previously played in the 2009 biopic Notorious. Other cast includes Grace Gibson, recently cast as R&B singer Faith Evans, and fellow The Walking Dead alum Lauren Cohan as social worker Leila Steinberg. Robinson is repped by D2 Management and APA.
