Jane Fonda, enjoying a resurgence on TV (Grace And Frankie, The Newsroom) and the big screen (Youth, This Is Where I Leave You) will host “A Night of Comedy With Jane Fonda” at Carolines on Broadway on February 7. It’s a fundraiser for the ERA Coalition and the Fund For Women’s Equality, and it’s planned as an inaugural event. The evening will include performances from Judah Friedlander (30 Rock), Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live), Wyatt Cenac (The Daily Show), Michelle Buteau (Key & Peele and The Eric Andre Show), Gina Brillon (White Guy Talk Show) and others to be announced. Writer, filmmaker and activist Agunda Okeyo is producing.
“Growing up in the business I have always felt it is important to use my voice and stand with my colleagues and friends to support women’s rights and equality,” Fonda, a member of the ERA Coalition Advisory Council, said in announcing the event. “We hope to use the magic of comedy to help raise awareness of pay inequity, pregnancy discrimination, and violence against women, and to help promote constitutional equality for women.”
