EXCLUSIVE: Jada Pinkett Smith and Kathryn Hahn have joined the untitled comedy written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover). The film, which also stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Christina Applegate, is about a mom (Kunis) with a seemingly perfect life who joins forces with two other over-stressed moms, leading them on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities.
The plotline: A woman with a happy marriage, overachieving kids, a beautiful home, a great career and 365 good hair days a year hits her breaking point from her over-committed lifestyle. She hooks up with other moms and they go wild in a college-like binge of freedom, fun and self-indulgence until they hit up against the PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn (Applegate) and her blindly devoted clique of “perfect” moms. Pinkett Smith plays a sharp-tongued, blunt bestie of Applegate, while Hahn (Transparent) plays one of the over-stressed moms.
Produced by Bill Block and Suzanne Todd, the film already has been slated for an August 19 release by STX. The comedy goes before the cameras this week in New Orleans.
Pinkett Smith is repped by Paradigm. Miguel Melendez at Overbrook Entertainment and attorney Jason Sloane. Hahn is with Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment and attorney James Adams.
