EXCLUSIVE: The deals keep popping at Sundance. The Orchard has acquired North American rights to Hunt For The Wilderpeople, in a deal worth $2 million, with a theatrical release commitment for around 100 markets. CAA brokered the sale this evening, co-repping the film with Protagonist.

Written and directed by Taika Waititi, the pic is about a national manhunt that is ordered when a rebellious kid and his foster uncle go missing in the wild New Zealand bush. The film starring  Sam Neill, Rhys Darby and Julian Dennison, has been a buzz title among buyers since it bowed in the Premieres Section on Friday night at Eccles. It’s produced by Carthew Neal, Leanne Saunders, Waititi, and Matt Noonan.
