The stars of High School Musical are heading back to class, at least for one night. Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman will attend a 10-year anniversary special, airing Wednesday January 20 on Disney Channel at 8 pm ET/PT. Classmate and BMOC Zac Efron will join via a pre-taped message.

The group taped interstitial segments today at a Los Angeles-area high school for inclusion in the broadcast. Telecasts of the original movie and sequel High School Musical 2 will be presented Thursday, January 21 and Sunday, January 24 on Disney Channel. Freeform will present High School Musical on Saturday, January 23 and Sunday, January 24 (2:00 p.m., ET/PT).

Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said, “Ten years later, the movie continues to delight audiences around the globe, not just for its memorable song and dance numbers, but for its universal themes that continue to resonate with fans everywhere – express yourself, believe in yourself and always follow your dreams.”

When the original movie debuted on January 20, 2006, it scored 7.7 million total viewers in the U.S., then the highest ratings for any Disney Channel telecast. During that year, the program reached over 100 million unduplicated viewers worldwide, and had a the first-ever TV movie soundtrack to reach #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
