It was a half full and half empty night on the Big 4 on Wednesday with NBC and ABC going mostly for encores. Still something was cookin’ on Fox with Hell’s Kitchen (1.4/4) making its Wednesday debut in what was for a brief time the slot held by weak newbie Second Chance, which now moves to Fridays to essentially fade away. Coming right after a steady American Idol (2.5/8), which was up 4% from its January 20 show, the Gordon Ramsay show was up a solid 40% among adults 18-49 from Second Chance’s last run in the slot last week.

Compared to the January 22 last Friday broadcast of Hell’s Kitchen, last night’s edition saw a 8% rise in the demo. Overall, Fox, won the night in the demo with a 1.9/6 rating, a 12% uptick from last Wednesday. Fueled by the 9.43 million who watched Criminal Minds (2.0/6) and more CBS was tops in viewership for the night with 7.98 million tuning in overall.

While Criminal Minds was even with last week, 2 Broke Girls (1.6/6), Mike & Molly (1.6/5) and Code Black (1.3/5) all dipped a tenth. On the CW, Arrow (1.1/4) and Supernatural (0.7/2) were even with their January 20 shows. With comedy repeats as its lead-in, ABC’s American Crime (0.9/3) had a relatively minor decline of just 10% in the demo from last week.

The performances in American Crime are great but the story line is moving at a snail's pace....
