Lady Gaga Says She “Wanted To Be An Actress” Before Being A Singer – Golden Globes

It was her first TV starring role and multiple Grammy winner Lady Gaga scored big tonight at the Golden Globes. The sometimes controversial singer won Best Performance By an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture made for Television from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for her role as the Countess on American Horror Story: Hotel.

“I wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a singer but music worked out first,” a clearly overcome Gaga said from the stage tonight at the Beverly Hilton. FX’s anthology AHS was created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk and is in its fifth cycle.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, Gaga’s real name, was up against Fargo’s Kirsten Dunst, Flesh & Bone’s Sarah Hay, American Crime‘s Felicity Huffman and fellow singer-turned actress Queen Latifah for her role in Bessie. Like many nominees, Gaga was also a presenter tonight giving out the Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture made for TV that Christian Slater won for his Mr. Robot performance.

    1. Denis O’Hare (knocked it out of the park), Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett and Mare Winningham all shined … Lady Gaga, a hack (with or without personal assistants).

  1. Love Gaga, but this is the perfect example of what a joke the Golden Globes are. Her role is barely lead and as a character its fairly weak. This has been the most disappointing AHS to date and ratings point to that. Globes just want to go out of their way to ensure that the shows/people that win in TV categories don’t go on to win Emmys and chasing the Oscars to make sure they do. The Globes are returning to being irrelevant after years of fixing themselves.

  2. Lady Gaga was sensational in AHS:Hotel. She should become a member of the ensemble. She was brilliant and the costumes were works of art. Gaga held every moment she was on and the sex scenes were erotic and fabulous.

Gaga can be a major movie star given the right roles and with the right directors. Quentin should design a movie for her but she cannot sell mops on QVC or play an executive secretary to a mean billionaire. She could have played a wealthy woman seducing a salesgirl, but I’d rather see her teamed with Michael Fassbender.

Gaga can play any part and AHS:Hotel showcased her talent. Use her again. I don’t want the Countess to end. You can offer Hotel fans the opportunity to send in a one page outline suggesting a continuation of Hotel. You might find a fresh story. Just make sure the entry roles state: must be typed, if there is one word misspelled, it will be discarded, double-space, and with only a set number of words on each page. Add your on preference of font and size.

    1. I couldn’t agree more. Her losing was the perfect example of what a joke the Golden Globes are.

  3. It appears none of the Golden Globe voters saw Fargo. Then again, how do you take seriously an awards show that places The Martian is the best comedy/musical category.

    1. Agreed … Fargo was the best written, performed, directed and entertaining show on TV this season … Hmmm, wait a minute! BETTER CALL SAUL!

Glad I got to experience BOTH … looking forward to next season for both these shows (can’t say the same for American Horror).

  4. What a freaking joke. She has been the worst thing about AHS this season, and she actually won an award? I didn’t have a lot of respect for the GG before, but I have ZERO respect for them now.
