David Preschlack is playing for a new team. The longtime Disney/ESPN exec has been named President of NBC Sports Regional Networks and NBC Sports Group Platform and Content Strategy. He’ll suit up on February 1, reporting to NBC Sports Group Chairman Mark Lazarus.
Preschlack — who had been EVP Affiliate Sales and Marketing at Disney and ESPN Networks Group — will oversee the NBC Sports Regional Networks portfolio, working with GMs in areas including sales, content and ongoing relationship management. He also will lead NBC Sports’ platforming strategy as the company moves into new areas with existing and to-be-developed content.
At Disney/ESPN Networks Group, he oversaw digitally distributed content along with U.S. cable, telco and satellite affiliate sales, global distribution and strategy, digital video distribution and affiliate marketing for 16 of Disney’s linear networks, including all of its sports offerings. His domain also included HDTV, VOD, SVOD, interactive TV and pay-per-view products. He has held a number of exec posts since joining ESPN in 1995 as a videotape librarian.
“David’s wealth of experience with digital innovation and distribution as well as programming creation and acquisitions are what today’s marketplace demands for executives,” Lazarus said in statement. “As we look to the future, his background and ability put us in position to further succeed and to broaden our opportunities across our entire portfolio.”
